Proposing New Members

The future of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of South Carolina depends on the caliber of candidates you as members propose. Please propose or second only a candidate whom you know well and can sincerely endorse. The late Mrs. Joseph Lamar, former President of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America wrote:“In admitting members to the Society the fact we base membership on descent, leads the public and some of our members to assume that ancestral eligibility is the only requisite… We should insist that the descendant shall have inherited and have exemplified in her life the qualities that distinguished her ancestor… The only question to be raised is… whether she will bring to the Society that which will add to its strength, its dignity, and its influence in the community.

Contact the Assistant Registrar for instructions regarding proposing new members and an electronically fillable Proposal Blank.  Please fill out the Proposal Blank electronically and return it by email to the Assistant Registrar.  Proposals are due to the Assistant Registrar by March 1 and September 1 respectively for the May and November State Board voting meetings.
